What is Metal when we speak of music? It is, undoubtedly, the sound of the electric guitar, is it not? Metal comes from the 70s originally. Nearly when we say metal we mean punk, but punk and metal only share similar elements. Certainly the musical sophistication inherent in many metal bands such as Metallica and Led Zeppelin owes more to skilled composers and craftsmanship than the Sex Pistols ever will. Metal is the loud crunching slashing electric guitar and the overpowering drums and can be found in John Bonham and Jimmy Page and the howls of Robert Plant. Like all rock, rooted in the blues, yet taking the anger to a higher and more ear-splitting level. It is a varied genre encompassing everything from Napalm Death to Motley Crue. Take a look.
